Amethyst and Diamond Brooch.
Having a central oval amethyst set in reverse with a polished cabochon uppermost and a faceted back. This 'backwards' effect allows light to reflect off the back facets through the smooth cabochon surface. The central stone is mounted in an ornate diamond frame.
Mounted in platinum, French. Circa 1910.
