A Victorian coiled snake ring set with five old European cut diamonds. Snake motifs were highly fashionable in 19th-century jewellery and were associated with ideas of eternity, wisdom and enduring affection. Often worn as tokens of love, snake rings became some of the most recognisable and symbolic jewels of the Victorian era.

The diamonds are cut in the old European style and are typical of the period in both character and finish.
